Veterans Cricket has been gaining worldwide popularity in recent years. Not just in India but countries like Australia, New Zealand, England and many other countries with strong Veterans Cricket Boards, which play Intra and inter-tournaments regularly. The matches range from the friendly, round-robin league to a World Cup.
Australia recently hosted a World Cup consisting of two pools, A and B. Pool A consisted of countries Australia, England, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, and Wales. In contrast, pool B consisted of the teams West Indies, New Zealand, South Africa, Canada, the USA, Pakistan and the Rest of the World.
These boards often play friendly matches with each other to keep the players on their heels and in fit conditions. The goal, after all, is to promote health and the awareness that life does not get sedentary after the retirement of first-class cricketing careers.
Countries like Australia and England already have a very popular Veterans Cricket fanbase; Australia has over 70-80 veteran teams, all playing a 45-over format to promote the fitness cricket could give a player.
